Front: CAHS patron, Robert (Bob) Bradford has meticulously recreated a moment in history from 1915, with a Curtiss Model F flying boat, the Maple Leaf, piloted by Guy Gilpatrick taxiing in front of the Curtiss school hangars on Hanlan's Point - one of his series of paintings for the National Aviation Museum. The full story of this pioneering Canadian Venture can be found on P116.
Back: the Vickers Supermarine Walrus (affectionately called the Shagboat) was designed for use by the RAF to locate and rescue airmen forced down at sea. CF-GKA the only example ever flown civilly in Canada was used by Kenting Aviation to ferry geoligists about Newfoundland and Labrador in the late '40's. Our reproduction is from a slide shown by Smitty Smith (story on P 134) at the 1993 CAHS Regina Convention.
