The CAHS has nine chapters across Canada and each would love to see you at their next meeting, whether you’re a member, guest, or visitor!
Chapters regularly schedule speakers and presentations on a wide variety of aviation subjects, as well as book launches and organized tours to local aviation sites and events. Many also create newsletters available only to members.
A sense of community is an important part of your CAHS membership, but we’re only able to meet nationally once per year at the convention. For a nominal chapter or “landing” fee, though, you can enjoy the company of fellow aviation history buffs and learn about Canada’s fascinating history in the air all year round.

Our chapter is named in honour of Roland Groome – the first commercial pilot in Canada, a member of the Royal Air Force in the First World War, and a founder of the Regina Flying Club – and we strive to represent all these areas of aviation!
To do this we’ve established ties with the Saskatchewan Aviation Council, the Airport Display Committee, and played a role in the launch of the Silver Dart stamp in 2009.
We also explore Saskatchewan’s rich and varied aviation history through our monthly meetings. These gatherings range from our popular film and photo nights to guest speakers from around the province and beyond. Past topics have included: military careers and continental air defense; international museum collections; radio-controlled aircraft races; civilian flying operations and entrepreneurs.
The monthly newsletter, Windsock, records these fascinating talks and events, and provides articles, announcements, and other notable aviation news.
We invite everyone to come out and enjoy an evening with fellow aviation enthusiasts.

Our chapter – the Carl F. Burke MBE Chapter – celebrates and promotes the history of aviation in Prince Edward Island.
We hold four meetings, two in Charlottetown and two in Summerside, each year.
Our meetings have speakers on a variety of subjects: from wartime experiences, to airport procedures, to air traffic control, we are interested in it all. We also discuss some of our recent trips, upcoming aviation events and air shows, and work on projects such as the preservation of the Argus, Tracker, and Voodoo aircraft at the Slemon Park Entry Road.
Recording the history of the province is also important, and we do that with our chapter newsletters which not only include meeting minutes, but the histories of Charlottetown and Summerside Airports and their RAF/RCAF connections. We have also produced the history of Mount Pleasant air base and that of the RCAF at Tignish.
If you want to be a part of our meetings, projects, and written histories, please contact us!
Meetings: First Saturday of March, June, September, December
Location: AFAC Wing in Summerside in June and December; and Charlottetown Airport Terminal in March and September.

Our chapter was formed in 1996 in Saint John but as we are a small province, we rotate our meetings between the cities of Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John.
While we only hold four monthly meetings, we are a very active group in our communities. Our members volunteer to clean and spruce up aviation displays and memorial cairns; lobby for recognition of historical aviation sites; and erect plaques to inform the public of significant aviation sites.
One of our chapter’s objectives has been to display New Brunswick’s civil, commercial and military aviation history to the public free of charge. This led us to partner with the Greater Moncton International Airport to create the Don McClure Aviation Gallery in the airport terminal in 2003. We also worked with the Saint John Airport to complete a photographic display of the history of the province’s airports, past and present.
Saint John members are also active in promoting aviation history within two local schools: M. Gerald Teed and Millidgeville North. Both of these have aviation history displays and an educational outreach program in the Millidgeville North School introduces three classes of Grade 5 students to the Theory of Flight, Women in Aviation, History of Aviation in New Brunswick, and early Airmail flying in Canada. As part of their school work each spring, students prepare either an aviation art or essay project for judging by the chapter’s members. Prizes are awarded at a pizza party and a field trip is made to tour the airport facilities.
If you are interested in joining our group, becoming involved in some of these activities, or just talking aviation history, please get in touch with us by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The next meeting of the Turnbull Chapter of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society will take place at the Provincial Archives of NB, UNB Fredericton campus, on Saturday, April 6. This free meeting begins at 2pm and lasts about one hour.
The speaker at this meeting with be Chapter Director Harold E. Wright. He will speak about a New Brunswick female pilot who went on to both national and international acclaim. This presentation will be a repeat of one presented by another speaker at the 2012 national aviation history conference held in Saint John last September.
Gina Jordan of Saint John, was the second woman pilot to fly with Mission Aviation Fellowship. She flew both as a pilot and flight instructor in Africa from 1982 until 1994, She later served on the Board of Directors of Mission Aviation Fellowship until 2001. She was awarded the Flight Operations/Maintenance Award from the Mission Aviation Fellowship in 2012.
Gina learned to fly at the Clover Valley airport in Saint John with the Fundy Flying Club in 1952. She later obtained her Instructor rating in 1959 and began her flight instruction career. She opened her own advanced flying school in Calgary in 1970, specializing in commercial pilot training. She went to California in 1982 to complete advanced training in order to qualify as pilot on overseas missionary flights for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
Gina was the first Canadian female pilot to achieve the Airline Transport Rating (ATR). She retired from her flight career with over 17,000 flying hours. Gina has retired to her home in Saint John.
The Turnbull Chapter has four meetings a year; two in Saint John, one in Moncton and the fourth in Fredericton. The Chapter's mandate is to preserve the history of New Brunswick aviation.

The Montreal Chapter is a crossroads where aviation veterans and aviation enthusiasts can meet.
Many of our members are involved in researching and writing history or had a front row seat to it. Others have no aviation background but want to know more about aviation, its history and its impact on Québec and Canada. Everyone is welcome – visitors and guests included!
Montreal has been one of the main centers of the Canadian aviation industry for years, and our chapter is ideally located to participate in and record this history. Every month we feature a keynote speaker and because we follow a mid-day format (1100-1300 hours), we now include a small lunch: sandwiches, veggies, cookies, coffee and bottled water.
Come and be a part of our community!

Formed in 1964, the CAHS Ottawa Chapter has more than 250 members today, some of whom live outside the region.
CAHS Ottawa Chapter meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month from September through May (except December) in the Bush Theatre of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Rockcliffe Airport, and feature guest speakers, films, slide shows, book signings, and visits to the restoration workshops of the Museum. Speakers present both first-person accounts and researched papers covering all historical periods and aspects of aviation. Recent talks have dealt with the Canadian use of specific military and civil aircraft, squadron and company histories, and the noteworthy aviation experiences of people from the Ottawa-area. Visitors are always welcome.
We also have a Research and Projects Group that meets monthly. These are very informal gatherings, where members show their current and historic aircraft slides and videos or outline some of their research interests. Again meetings are open to anyone and new faces are always welcome.
Our annual membership fees include receipt of eight issues of the newsletter, the Observair. The Observair provides a summary of each formal meeting. It also presents short historical articles and notes by members, informs members of aviation events in the Ottawa-area, offers news and reviews of aviation books, as well as notice of other articles of aviation or historical interest. Many of the our members from outside the National Capital area have joined just to receive this newsletter.
New members will be sure to meet others who share their interests in this large and diverse chapter. We make a special effort to ensure that new members are made welcome. Please join us and see for yourself!
